Long Live Short Hair

Hello, friends!  Just wanted to give you a peek at my newly re-styled hair!

After 12 inches off, plus ombre color!
 Before
 Another before!
And another after!

I'm so excited about my short hair!  It's so perfect for summer, and much easier to wash and style!  Plus, the color has livened it up a bit.

I've gotten mixed reactions on my new length.  Some people are sad, while others are excited! :)

Is anyone else joining me in hair restyling?   Are you excited about the coming summer?

Love,
Elyse

You Are Loved {Stars Go Dim}

This song has been such a huge encouragement to me the last couple months, and has quickly become a favorite.  I just want to share this video with you, wherever you are, so that it can hopefully encourage you too.
Jesus died on the cross and rose again because He loves you.  No matter what you're going through, just look up and remember you are loved.  Loved by the Creator of the Universe, loved by the God who made heaven and earth and sea, LOVED by the Author of all humanity.  He loves you so much more than any human could ever love you, and He loves you in spite of the pain, the mistakes, the past, in spite of it all!

We hide pain in the weirdest places
Broken souls with smiling faces
Fighting for surrender
For now and the after, yeah
Just look around and you'll see that people
Are scared to say how they really feel
Oh, we all need a little honesty

You are loved
If your heart's in a thousand pieces
If you're lost and you're far from reason
Just look up; know you are loved
Just look up; and know you are loved
When it feels like something's missing
If it hurts but you can't find healing
Just look up, know you are loved
Just look up, know you are loved

We're not made to be superheroes
Photoshopped, all size zeroes
A light not expected
But not quite perfected yet
Look up; see the sun is shinning
There's hope on a new horizon
Calling you, it's calling

You are loved
If your heart's in a thousand pieces
If you're lost and you're far from reason
Just look up; know you are loved
Just look up; and know you are loved
When it feels like something's missing
If it hurts but you can't find healing
Just look up, know you are loved
Just look up, know you are loved

And you, don't have to prove yourself
Don't try to be someone else
You don't have to prove yourself
Don't try to be someone else

You are loved
Just look up; you are loved
Just look up; you are loved
Just look up; you are loved

You are loved
If your heart's in a thousand pieces
If you're lost and you're far from reason
Just look up; know you are loved
Just look up; and know you are loved
When it feels like something's missing
If it hurts but you can't find healing
Just look up, know you are loved
Just look up, know you are loved

Where I've Been

It is well with my soul
Hello, friends!  I can't believe it's been three months since my last post!  In that time so very much has happened...

As some of you may know, I lost my grandpa last month.  He was such a special and important person to me, and I know I will never regret the time spent with him.  I encourage you to spend time with your grandparents while they are still living-you will never regret it!

My grandpa gave me my start in music.  I attribute all my guitar talent to him, who was so instrumental in getting me started on it, including giving me my first guitar!  He encouraged me in my dream of singing, as well, and was one of my biggest fans when I was about ten years old and trying to find my way in the world of music.  He made AWESOME homemade ice cream, and he grilled a mean hamburger on many a summer evening! ;)  These are just a few of the special memories I have of him, and they are memories I will always treasure.  ♥

My mom wrote a very beautiful tribute to him here.  Many of her thoughts expressed in this post are similar to mine..."Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning."

Jesus has been with us in an amazing way, and given us peace, in spite of the sorrow.  Love in spite of the pain.

Although I miss him so much, I can't wait to see him in heaven, and I am so thankful that he will never be in pain again, and is happy with Jesus.

A couple weeks after the funeral, I was blessed to be able to attend Winter Jam, a true soul-refresher!  If ever you get the opportunity to go, GO!  Definitely very timely after the recent trials I have been facing!  I went with some sweet friends-these girls are so special to me!

One of my best friends, Tymbur!

Love these girls so much!
